Over 6,000 items specifically concerned with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander issues are housed in the University of Queensland Library collections. These extensive holdings consist of books, journals, postgraduate research theses and audiovisual material as well as photographs and personal papers from leading Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including Oodgeroo Noonuccal. Many photographs and personal papers are held in the special collections of the Fryer Library. Anthropology Museum

The Anthropology Museum in the School of Social Science houses a significant collection numbering around 25,000 items. It celebrates the culture, arts and crafts of the indigenous people of Oceania, concentrating on Australia, Torres Strait, New Guinea and island Melanesia, and to a lesser extent Polynesia and Micronesia. It includes ethnographic objects and artefacts, photographs, and archaeological remains such as stone tools.
The holdings cover many aspects of daily life including hunting and gathering, recreation, body adornment, trade and ceremony. Comparative holdings from places such as Africa and Southeast Asia complement this extensive collection. The collection's database can be accessed via http://aumol.usyd.edu.au/.
The Anthropology Museum has a public display gallery that is open during the teaching semesters between the hours 11-3, Tuesday-Thursday. Admission to the gallery during these times is free. Conducted group tours can be arranged outside these hours for a small fee.

UQASU is a commercial arm of the School of Social Science at the University of Queensland. UQASU's mission is to promote excellence in the delivery of archaeological and cultural heritage services to the community. UQASU has two main consulting wings: Aboriginal & Built Heritage and Molecular Services. UQASU undertakes consultancies for a range of organisations and individuals including Aboriginal organisations, Goverment and semi-Government instrumentalities, developers and researchers. UQASU has undertaken cultural heritage assessment in Queensland, New South Wales and Central America and the Molecular Services Division has an international reputation in molecular and archaeological residue analyses.

Aboriginal Environments Research Centre

The Aboriginal Environments Research Centre (AERC) is a self-supporting resource and research centre based in the Department of Architecture at the University of Queensland. It was originally established in 1976 as the 'Aboriginal Data Archive' (ADA). The resources of the ADA were gradually built up through the 1970s and 80s. In 1993, the level of services offered from this Unit was such, that the concept was expanded to become a Research Centre entitled the Aboriginal Environments Research Centre (AERC). The AERC fulfills three functions: as both an undergraduate and postgraduate teaching centre; a research practice involved in a wide variety of Indigenous projects ranging from land claims to architecture and settlement planning; and, as an archive incorporating an extensive collection of bibliographies, literature and images. This facility includes a unique Aboriginal architecture bibliography. Some resource material is available on the AERC website.
